EE Times Reveals Five Fascinating Facts About Power Systems for Supercomputers

EE Times LogoPaul Pickering wrote an interesting article for EE Times that reveals Five Fascinating Power Facts About Supercomputers. In the article he discusses their size, the importance of cooling and plans for future exascale systems.

Although modern supercomputers are highly specialized systems, they are based on standard products, from the CPUs and GPUs that do the calculations to the power components used to supply them. Paul cites Vicor’s Factorized Power as an example of off-the-shelf products being central to systems such as Sequoia (the third most powerful computer on the TOP500 list).
