Chris Swartz to Present on EMI at IEEE Meeting

February 28, 2014

Chris Swartz, Principal Application Engineer at Vicor, will present a lecture entitled The Causes and Impact of EMI in Power Systems to the Long Island Chapter of the IEEE Power Electronics Society (PELS) and Electromagnetic Compatibility Society (EMCS) on Wednesday, 2 April at 6pm.

Drawing on materials from his recent EMI webinar series, Chris will explain the basis of EMI using a simulated Buck converter and a real-world isolated DC-DC converter to charaterize, show conduction paths and illustrate the origins of the noise.

The lecture will provide a practical approach to attenuating EMI. Chris will explain insertion loss, filter stability and compare an active filter topology to conventional passive schemes. Attendees will learn from real-world case studies.

The lecture will be held at the Telephonics facility located at 815 Broad Hollow Road in Farmingdale, New York, USA. Attendance if free, and IEEE membership is not requited.
