APEC 2012 Roundup

February 15, 2012

Vicor, like other power players in the industry, spent the better part of this past week at APEC 2012 in Orlando, Florida, showcasing products and capabilities in Booth 100, meeting with power designers, customers new and old, and getting the latest information about magnetics, EV power packaging, and much more. We also conducted an Exhibitor Seminar (more info to come) and participated in an industry rap session.

Here’s a brief roundup of APEC highlights:

Introduction of new Picor semiconductor power solutions:

  • The  Cool-Power® isolated DC-DC converter delivers regulation, isolation and transformation in a PSiP package less than half the size of a 1/16th brick — 50W of output power (12V output at 4.2 Amps).
  • The Cool-Swap® Hot Swap Controller PI2211 offers unique programmable True-SOA™ feature that ensures safe, reliable operation at both the system and the MOSFET level during circuit card insertion and steady state operation.
  • The latest addition to the Picor QuietPower portfolio, the QuietPower® QPI-21 Active EMI Filter, is a universal input filter that addresses multiple voltage rail/bus needs in industrial, aerospace, and telecom applications.

Demonstrations of the new, free, easy to use IBC selector/simulator tool at the Vicor booth and on Engineering TV.

All in all, a good show.
