Explosives Detection Systems for Airports

Air travel is an essential part of our daily lives; over 600 million people fly each year, not to mention the millions of bags that go along with them. That is why efficient explosives detectors are absolutely vital for passengers’ safety. Current explosives detection systems (EDS) are the size of a mini-van and employ technology which combine many x-ray images with the aid of a computer to generate cross-sectional views and, if needed, three-dimensional images.

A variety of Vicor products, such as modules, VIPACs and PFC MegaPACs, can be used in these systems. In particular, for a requirement of PFC with 350 Vdc output, our PFC MegaPAC is the ideal solution, due mainly to its configurability, as the outputs’ serial connection easily supports high voltage DC outputs with no NRE.
